Communities In Schools Pennsylvania (CISPA) is an affiliate of the nation’s largest dropout prevention organization bringing coordinated, integrated student services into public schools to meet the needs of at-risk students. Our mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. To help our students achieve their greatest successes, we determine students’ needs and establish relationships with local businesses, social service agencies, health care providers, and parent and volunteer organizations to provide needed resources. Community resources provide the substance to our “Five Basics” model that has allowed our students to flourish over the last 35 years.
CISPA is comprised of four affiliates, serving more than 90 schools sites, and a state office in Harrisburg. In 2014, CISPA served over 40,000 students, and 71% of improved attendance, 81% improved attitude, 83% improved behavior, and 73% improved academic performance.
Since 2011, CISPA has facilitated programs for Pennsylvania Schools and Community Coalitions addressing the need for drug and alcohol prevention throughout our communities through our drug and alcohol free positive messaging campaign, 2inspire (formerly known as My Voice PA).
